Ed Edd N' Eddy Z Wiki

The Powerpuff Girls are the main antagonists of the PPG Saga. They are considered the Ultimate Lifeforms created by the Utonium family, making them in part the Utonium familes counterpart to the Robotniks Shadow the Hedgehog. Though atleast two prior prototypes have been confirmed to have been created and defeated by the heroes, the current incarnations were able to absorb thier previous version to obtain their own so called "Perfect" forms from which surrpass all other known artificial beings in the Ed Edd n Eddy Z universe.

The Girls

The girls made their debut in Episode 38 as unknown figures. Shortly afterward, Buttercup destroys a helicopter, killing the individuals inside. It is not until Episode 39 that they make their full appearance, revealing that they had knowledge on all of the heroes and begin to fight against Drew, Zach, and Corey, while the Eds face off against weaker prototypes. The cousins, finding themselves outmatched by these new foes, punch it up to their FSSJ forms, while the Powerpuffs reveal that they have been holding back this whole time, which doesn't surprise the opposing side. They begin round two of their fight, with the cousins briefly gaining the upper hand, until the Powerpuffs activate their 150% Power Boost, which allows the girls to utterly decimate the Cousins. The Eds fight in their stead, transforming into their FSSJ forms as well, but it is all in vain as the Powerpuffs repeat their earlier tactic.

During Utonium's tirade and assault against Corey, Buttercup and Blossom can be seen torturing Zach and Drew, respectively, while Bubbles admires the butterflies. Before Utonium can kill Corey, however, Blossom intervenes. The girls reveal how the truly felt about the situation and their "father," and everyone else can only look on in shock as they ultimately kill Utonium.

The girls then turn their attention to the heroes, and point out that they were, at the least, not very disappointed at the challenge they presented, and demanded that they get stronger so that they can enjoy a better fight. This strengthens the heroes' resolve, especially Corey and Shadow's, to train even harder than before.

Upon the heroes' return to a destroyed Townsville, Shadow warped the Saiyans to the other side of the world so he could fight the girls himself, though this quickly became a three on three between the main anthros of the series and them. After a brief scuffle in which the fruits of the Chaos Fighters training under 300 times Earth's gravity are clear, the Powerpuffs reveal a blood-chilling new trick: Using the undisposed corpses of their prototypes, the girls age into teenagers, and their power levels are given a massive boost! With their new forms, the PPG's lay a beatdown on the anthros, and not even Sonic's on-the-fly Speed Blitz can take them down...

Though Sonic and Knuckles were defeated, Shadow, pledging to protect what he has left, gathered his reserves and erupted into a Dark Form that pushed the Powerpuff Girls to the edge for a time. However, due to the combination of real and artificial Chaos Energies, Dark Shadow's power begins to rapidly erode, compounded by the 1-on-3 disadvantage he has against the super-strong sisters. Despite the odds, he manages to stun all of them in a single place with Chaos Snap, and then teleports into the sky to blast them to cellular pieces.

The girls prove able to regenerate from this however, and healed from Shadow's final attack. The Saiyans arrived as well, and the girls began their confrontation with them. The Saiyans proved capable of keeping up with the PPGs despite their transformations, with Eddy even taking on Blossom alone. In fact, the combined efforts of Drew under the effect of the Eight Gates and an enraged Edd proved too much for Bubbles, though she was able to deal a near fatal wound to Drew before being knocked down. Sensing their sister's power level to be almost nothing, The other two girls began to overpower their respective opponents: Buttercup was able to defeat Ed and Zach, while Blossom had Eddy at her mercy.

Blossom's ki blast was stopped however with the arrival of Corey, fresh from his training with the legendary Goku. The Saiyan proved able to take on both Blossom and Buttercup at once, before Bubbles returned from her rest and landed a surprise punch on him. Wasting no more time, Corey reinvigorated his allies by giving Drew and Shadow Senzu Beans and sharing his ki with everyone else. The Powerpuffs scoff at the heroes being brought back into the fray, with Blossom stating that "They fell before us once, they'll fall again." The two teams exchange bantering remarks, with Blossom ending it by promising to send the group "to hell together."

The 9-versus-3 fight explodes into full force, with neither side being able to sufficiently budge their foes. After barely blocking a Blossom-Buttercup team assault, Corey realizes the progress of the battle and convinces Drew and Eddy to distract the girls while he prepares the legendary trump card of Goku (and King Kai before him): the Spirit Bomb. As the brawl rages on, the PPGs' natural ability of adaptation becomes increasingly apparent: All three of the girls become able to dodge, counter, and sometimes pre-empt the heroes' attacks, who slowly have to rely on lucky shots in order to damage them. Eventually, the Spirit Bomb is primed to throw, so Corey (with the assistance of King Kai) has the other 8 heroes knock the Powerpuffs into a single spot to be blasted by Zach's Galick Mine. Shadow then uses Chaos Snap again to leave them defenseless against the Spirit Bomb, which Corey finally hurls at them.

Bubbles, meanwhile, is the only girl to see the gargantuan sphere of Earth's energy hurtling towards them. Quickly realizing what the blast could do, she then powers up to her absolute limit (breaking free of Chaos Snap) and conjures a shield to repel it. Bubbles alone was capable of resisting the Spirit Bomb, even when Corey went False Super Saiyan to push it into the girls. With Edd's help, Corey was finally able to plow the Bomb through Bubbles' barrier, ultimately sealing her fate.

After Earth's defenders infiltrate the SuperSchool's inner sanctum, Drew and Zach are suddenly struck down by red and green death beams--whose owners are none other than Blossom and Buttercup, who regenerated themselves from the explosion a la Cell from the original Dragon Ball Z! Desiring bloody retribution for the death of Bubbles, Buttercup charges a Special Beam Cannon and aims it at Corey, who is in such shock at their survival that he cannot move! Just as beam is about to pierce his body, Sonic shunts him out of the way at the last second and receives the Special Beam Cannon in his place, dying as a result!

Blossom and Buttercup are poised to exterminate the rest of the group, but both are intercepted by a grief-stricken and enraged Corey, who turns into a true Super Saiyan after vowing to never forgive the girls for what they did to Sonic. With his newfound strength, Corey rapidly outclasses the two, who are scarcely able to land a single punch. After a beating in which the youngest Cousin no longer has to apply effort, he reveals that (with the telepathic help of Tailsko) he discovered the sisters' weakness: Their regeneration of internal structures is much less efficient than their regeneration of external structures. Case and point: Bubbles' battles with Sonic and Drew, in which she was weakened enough by the Speed Blitz and Drew's Eight Gates to be put down for good by the Spirit Bomb. (This could also very likely be the reason why Edd was able to knock her out with his Masenko, as she had been hit by the two melee assaults earlier) With this information in mind, Corey proceeds to mercilessly execute Buttercup, while a horrified Blossom can only watch.

After witnessing the brutal murder of her beloved sisters, Blossom surges her power, promising to avenge the only two people she ever cared about. However, she is then blasted by a Super Kamehameha courtesy of Corey, creating an explosion that seemingly ends her life.

However, she wasn't about to die so easily...

Stepping forth from the other side of the SuperSchool, Blossom still lives! However, her regeneration from the beam seems to be finally reaching its limit: Her dress is torn in places, her hair is ruined, and her bow and stockings have been obliterated, making her look like the ruthless, deranged killer she truly is. Vowing again to avenge Buttercup and Bubbles, Blossom then powers up beyond her body's limit, enabling her to speed past Corey to activate the self-destruct sequence of the laboratory stronghold!

The incredibly intense deathmatch is resumed, and in it, Blossom has managed to regain the upper hand once again. She then explains that her power spike was due to the way she and her sisters were created: Whenever they were destroyed but not permanently killed, their DNA was programmed to rearrange itself to adapt to their opponents. And after regenerating from Shadow's Chaos Beam, the Spirit Bomb, and now the Super Kamehameha, Blossom's DNA became Saiyan-dominant, allowing her to replicate a Zenkai! Corey, meanwhile, is unintimidated by this, due to his Super Saiyan power corroding his judgement.

As a result, Corey finds himself getting mangled by the self-proclaimed Ultimate Lifeform, who questions his disgust at Utonium's betrayal. Corey replies that Utonium did deserve his execution, but rages at her and her sisters' murder of the innocent civilians. He then goes on to compare them to their creator, which angers Blossom into slamming him against the floor and attacking him with a Final Flash.

Believing him to be dead, Blossom prepares to leave the SuperSchool (which is 5 minutes away from detonation) but is ambushed by Corey, who had survived the energy wave. She then gloats about how she is the Ultimate Lifeform, but Corey then delivers a speech about how Shadow was original Ultimate, but through training, became several times stronger while the Powerpuff Girls were just born strong with no training. Through this, the consequences of Blossom breaching her natural boundaries begin to show, with her power level plunging while Corey's has remained stable. After desperately trying to eliminate the young Super Saiyan with moves copied from the heroes, she then engages in a final Rasengan clash with him. The results of Corey's training with Goku show one last time, as he was able to overwhelm the last Powerpuff Girl with his Fire Release: Napalm Spiral, putting an end to her (and Utonium's legacy) for good.

Blossom

The leader of the group and the brains of the girls. Due to her use of tactics and adaptation of skills for her strategies, she makes for a very dangerous enemy. Her reason for killing Utonium was due to the fact that she couldn't express the emotions he programmed into them. She's a wise, smart, and tactical criminal, who is known to be very sharp in battle. She believes in her title as the Ultimate Lifeform and fights just as much to prove that as to fulfill her craving for battle. As the battle with Corey as a Super Saiyan led to her needing to regenerate her entire body multiple times, Blossoms cells rearranged themselves to make her Saiyan DNA dominant, making her into more of a Saiyan then her sisters. This gave her the power to go toe to toe with the young Super Saiyan before her body began breaking down from the power output. She was ultimately killed by Corey, admitting she deserved death but was happy to have lived. She is a tactical fighter, and a smart one.

Bubbles

The dummy of the group. She seems innocent, but don't let her attitude and looks fool you. Despite her cute personality, this does not make her any less dangerous than her sisters; in fact, her cunning and "charm" make her an even more effective killer. Her reason for killing Utonium was due to the fact that she got bored under surface over the months they spent there. She's a dimwitted, naive, child-natured superbeing, who is seen to have a soft side for animals seeing how she reacted to seeing Sonic, Shadow and Knuckles. She may be smarter then she appears, as she was show using her innocent nature to incite hesitation in Drew, to which she used in order to strike him down. She ultimately died saving her sisters from the Spirit Bomb.

Buttercup

The brawns of the group. She is cold and ruthless in battle, even going so far as to kill bystanders without a second thought. Her reason for killing Utonium was due to lack of violence over the months they spent underground. She's a bloodthristy, short-tempered, impatient villain, who prefers a good fight more than anything (even more than her sisters). Much like her original series counterpart, she is easier to anger than her sisters, and will stop at nothing to deliver a brutal and sadistic beatdown. She ultimately met her hands at the hands of Corey after she killed Sonic the Hedgehog.

Abilities

Blossom:

Regeneration: As of her final design, Blossom is able to regenerate each missing or cut part of her body, even after reaching the "Perfection" is able to regenerate cells or molecules while they are alive or active. However this state only maintained while living with energy, which is depleted because the weak point of the girls are bone regeneration when broken due to the hard knocks of the Saiyans. This and the amount of time that they repair themselves, makes them arrive at the limits, leading to their deaths. Blossom however survived more than Buttercup through better design and got a Zenkai that allowed to absorb her sister's cells.

Zenkai: Being created by Saiyan cells, Blossom and her sisters are able to achieve more power after being destroyed. After being erased multiple times, Blossom managed to use the Zenkai to its fullest potential, but in the end, it wasn't enough.

Adaptation: As it was created at the beginning, Blossom fits into battle and is able to move to the rhythm of his opponents, leading to dodge and be more faster than them, even get to know the techniques or movements that this used.

Perfect Form/Limit Ascension: Blossom, along with her sisters, is capable of increasing their power beyond their normal boundaries for a limited time. Through this, they were able to take out the Cousins, the Eds, and deter the Sonic Fighters from battling them. In addition, due to absorbing the abandoned bodies of their prototypes, the Powerpuffs could now transform into teenagers, effectively multiplying their power levels by six. This allowed them to soundly defeat the Sonic Fighters and the Saiyans(for the second time) before Corey arrived and healed everyone. Blossom in particular pushed this ability as far as it possibly can in the final battle inside SuperSchool where it, combined with a Zenkai, enabled her to temporarily surpass Corey as a Super Saiyan.

Incredible Ki Control: From their first onscreen battle, each of the PPG's seem to shine in specific fields introduced in Episode 17 as way of grouping the heroes: Speed, Ki Control, and brute Strength. Blossom's innate talent is Ki Control, as she frequently employs energy-based attacks in battle and as finishing blows to her enemies. Blossom can also unleash massive ki beams and energy wave volleys without draining her reserves at all, proving how skilled she is.

Technique Duplication: Since the girls had the heroes' moves copied into their genes, they can replicate them with their signature colors, with a few exceptions to the latter. Blossom in particular utilizes techniques from the Ki Control Team (Drew, Edd, and Shadow), namely the Special Beam Cannon from Drew, and Edd's Rasengan, Interestingly, since these attacks were never improved from training like the original users' were, the Powerpuffs cannot have the full benefits of them. An example is when Blossom tried to use the Split Form against Eddy: because she never trained to overcome the downside of the technique splitting her power level in half, Eddy could easily overcome the combined maneuvers of the two Blossoms.

  • Special Beam Cannon
  • Ice Breath
  • Regeneration
  • Final Flash
  • 150% Power Boost
  • Blaster Shell
  • Kamehameha Wave
  • Imperfect/Perfect Form
  • Punishing Counter
  • Split Form
  • Destructo-Disc
  • Rasengan

Bubbles:

Regeneration: Like her sisters, Bubbles could regenerate any missing or damaged body parts, and after reaching her "Perfect form", she could resurrect herself from mere cells. However, it is through her misuse of it that the weakness of the girls' regeneration is revealed; she had several bones broken from Sonic's Speed Blitz and from Drew's Third Gate, and had to rest from the latter but didn't from the former. As an eventual result, she was too internally weak to recover from the Spirit Bomb, which killed her.

Zenkai: Being created by Saiyan cells, Bubbles and her sisters are able to achieve more power after being destroyed. Unlike Blossom, Bubbles didn't endure the relentless punishment of Earth's defenders long enough for her Zenkai to surface, but it can be safely assumed that she had this ability.

Adaptation: The Powerpuff Girls, as originally designed by John Utonium's father (James Utonium), have the power to adapt to their opponents' fighting styles and change their own to flawlessly counter their foes'. Bubbles' adaptation was most apparent in her last fight the Saiyans, as she used her immense speed to dodge their attacks without a scratch on her.

Perfect Form/Limit Ascension: Bubbles, along with her sisters, is capable of increasing their power beyond their normal boundaries for a limited time. Bubbles had actually used an Overdrive" boost to her Perfect form twice, once when Drew was beating her using the Eight Gates, and the second time when she tried to defend against the Spirit Bomb. This Overdrive, however, seems to have a flaw in weakening her body's resistance to attacks.

Incredible Speed: From their first onscreen battle, each of the PPG's seem to shine in specific fields introduced in Episode 17 as way of grouping the heroes: Speed, Ki Control, and brute Strength. Bubbles' innate talent is Speed, as she can move faster than any of the heroes, including Sonic who has literally been described as the fastest thing alive. Besides this, she can deliver attacks at blinding velocities and land the first punch before her enemies can even react.

Technique Duplication: Since the girls had the heroes' moves copied into their genes, they can replicate them with their signature colors, with a few exceptions to the latter. Bubbles is capable of utilizing attacks from the Speed Team (Corey, Eddy, and Sonic) such as the Kamehameha Wave and the Light Speed Attack, but she can also use Edd's Masenko.

  • Kamehameha Wave
  • Sonic Screams
  • Regeneration
  • Light Speed Attack
  • 150% Power Boost
  • Finger Beam
  • Imperfect/Perfect Form
  • Overdrive
  • Masenko
  • Chasing Bullet

Buttercup:

Regeneration: Buttercup can regenerate missing or damaged body parts as well as her sisters can, and after reaching her "Perfect form", she could resurrect herself from an almost molecular state. Unlike the other two, Buttercup rarely had to use it, except for when Dark Shadow's Chaos Beam vaporized her and her siblings, and for any obliterated/cut off limbs. When Corey discovered the regeneration's weakness, however, it became too damaged to use when he ripped a hole in Buttercup's torso, and then destroyed her for good.

Zenkai: Being created by Saiyan cells, the Powerpuffs are able to achieve more power after being destroyed. Like Bubbles, Buttercup died before her Zenkai was complete, but if she had survived Corey's assault, it is very likely she could have gotten the same power-up as Blossom.

Adaptation: The Powerpuff Girls, as originally designed by John Utonium's father (James Utonium), have the power to adapt to their opponents' fighting styles and change their own to flawlessly counter their foes'. Buttercup's adaptation was arguably the most obvious of the Powerpuff Girls: She effortlessly dodged Drew's and Eddy's attacks, and even attacked him from behind her back without looking.

Perfect Form/Limit Ascension: Buttercup, along with her sisters, is capable of increasing their power beyond their normal boundaries for a limited time. Buttercup also has an Overdrive like Bubbles, but only used it before Corey was about to kill her. She also tried to use it earlier, but Corey intercept her and Blossom.

Incredible Strength: From their first onscreen battle, each of the PPG's seem to shine in specific fields introduced in Episode 17 as way of grouping the heroes: Speed, Ki Control, and brute Strength. Buttercup's innate talent is Strength, as her physical strikes pack the biggest wallop of her sisters. This complements her bloodthirsty nature perfectly, as she enjoys crushing her opponents against the ground, as evidenced by her fights with Zach, Knuckles, and Edd, and how she knocked down a skyscraper to massacre the Townsville civilians. Despite this, she uses energy attacks fairly often.

Technique Duplication: Since the girls had the heroes' moves copied into their genes, they can replicate them with their signature colors, with a few exceptions to the latter. Buttercup has moves cloned from the Strength Team (Zach, Ed, and Knuckles) such as the Big Bang Attack and Zappity-Zap-Zap, but she can utilize the Special Beam Cannon as well. (It could be copied from Ed, as both green-clad warriors seldom use it)

  • Big Bang Attack
  • Chidori
  • Tornado Generation
  • Regeneration
  • 150% Power Boost
  • Finger Beam
  • Destructo-Disc
  • Kamehameha Wave
  • Imperfect/Perfect Form
  • Zappity-Zap-Zap
  • Special Beam Cannon
  • Overdrive
  • Masenko

Trivia

  • As over Episode 40: Utonium's Ultimates, Professor Utonium is a threat no more thanks to the Powerpuff Girls putting him to rest.
  • Interestingly enough, as of Episode 40, it has been revealed that they are ironicaly similar to Saiyans. They live for the thrill of the fight, and were more than eager to let the E-Fighters go if it meant they could bring about a greater battle for them in the future.
  • It can be noted that the PPGs share similiarities to the Androids from Dragon Ball Z, 18 and Blossom wanting to accomplish certain goals, 16 and Bubbles both having a love for animals, and 17 and Buttercup for sharing a cocky thrill to fight and be the best.
  • The Powerpuff Girls have by far killed more people onscreen then anyone else.
  • The girls were found to have a weakness; internal regeneration, as opposed to the complete physiological replacement or regeneration of lost limbs, is much more taxing to their bodies, as their bodies must adjust and reshape themselves during the intervals in which their bones are reset and their organs are being repaired.
